Credit-based fair queueing for ATM networks

Abstract

A simple and practically attractive rate-based scheduling algorithm for ATM networks is presented. By using simple counters to keep track of the transmission credits earned by each traffic stream, the algorithm decides which stream to serve next, based on their bandwidth shares and the values of the counters.
