Abstract
Recent measurements of the fine and hyperfine structures of P-wave quarkonia systems allows a nearly model-independent separation of the confinement contribution. The simplest interpretation is that the confining potential is a Lorentz scalar. The data further suggest that the scalar confining potential falls below linear behavior at intermediate radii. Keywords
