Smith, Bruce H., ancl Dehner, Louis P.: Sarcoma of the prostate gland. Am. J. Clin. Pathol. 58: 43–50, 1972. A search of the files of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology revealed records of 55 primary and 26 secondary sarcomas of the prostate gland. Forty of these patients were autopsied. Of the primary sarcomas, 37 were classified as myosarcomas and nine as lymphomas, comprising the majority of the neoplasms. Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma occurred most frequently in this series as a lethal tumor of young boys, whereas leiomyosarcomas occurred in an older age group with prolonged courses with multiple recurrences. The secondary sarcomas were predominantly lymphomas and followed the usual course of the primary disease.
