Abstract
Drawing on recent developmental theories that emphasize the interplay of external and internal factors, the present study examines the interrelationship of self-defined turning points in life, and longitudinal change in self-concept and psychological well-being, among younger and older adults. Self-concept dimensions are found to be stable over time and to predict the impact of turning points.
