Abstract
Presentation of Case First admission. In 1938, an eleven-year-old school-boy was admitted to the hospital because of puffiness of the eyelids.Frequent upper respiratory infections were noted during the winter months. He had been deaf in the left ear during the two years before entry. Puffiness of the eyelids was noted during the five months before admission. There had been nocturia once a night.He had had rubeola and pertussis. A tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy were performed one year before entry. The patient's mother had hypertension and during her last two pregnancies (the patient and his brother) she had pre-eclampsia. . . .
