Abstract
More than 90% of anorectal surgery can be done in an outpatient setting. The savings for anorectal procedures in 1982 for inpatient room cost alone could have been almost $200 million. The use of local anesthesia for anorectal surgery enhances patient safety. Ambulatory surgery should be considered whenever anorectal procedures are contemplated. Keywords
