Abstract
Some Mannich bases of potential pharmacological interest have been prepared. In order to obtain the required compounds directly from a Mannich reaction, a high-boiling alcohol had to be used as solvent. The use of dimethylformamide as solvent led to the introduction of a methylene substituent on the α-carbon atom. The structures of the new compounds have been proved by independent synthesis. Keywords
