Abstract
WHEN the diagnosis of foreign body in the respiratory tract has been established by history, physical examination and x-ray study, the surgeon is presented with a problem whose successful solution consists, of course, in the extraction of the foreign body without harm or damage to the patient. Usually, it is the general practitioner who first sees such a patient, and thus the family physician has the first opportunity to make or to miss the diagnosis.
