Abstract
In the light of current NHS strategy, assessment of needs, particularly among those with significant disability, has become highly topical. This article outlines the complexity and skill required for assessing and managing neurologically-related disability. The multifaceted nature of assessment in rehabilitation is indicated, along with an example of such an assessment service developed in practice. The benefits of an assessment strategy in neurorehabilitation is emphasized in terms of resources, patient outcomes and staff development.Keywords
