Abstract
The printing industry and some of the processes used in it are described in order to give industrial health and safety experts with no detailed knowledge of printing a background to the other papers in the Conference. The stages in the production of print by the three major processes—letterpress, lithography and gravure—are discussed, together with the reproduction of black and white and colour illustrations, and outline details of printing inks and their drying. Keywords
