Abstract
To the editor: We read with interest the review by Seigel and Longo (1) on the control of chemotherapy-induced emesis. The authors' conclusion that "the phenothiazines are the only class of antiemetics that have shown both efficacy and safety in large numbers of cancer patients" is misleading. Although the phenothiazines have been shown to be effective in controlling mild nausea and vomiting, they are clearly inadequate with potent emetogenic chemotherapy agents such as cisplatin (2).
