Abstract
Mycelial culture-plugs of fungi, strains of Basidiomycetes predominating (74 of 104 strains studied), were successfully frozen with 10% (v/v) glycerol as suspending medium by a controlled slow freezing process. Frozen ampules were stored in a liquid-nitrogen refrigerator (—150 to —196 C). Eighteen-months' storage specimens became active, normal cultures when cultivated immediately succeeding the thawing (38 C).
