Abstract

2-methyl-l,4-naphthoquinone, hydroxyquinone and benzoquinone were added to sterilized Czapek-Dox medium at pH 6.5. The flasks were inoculated with P. notatum 9178 and incubated at 25[degree]C. All quinones, even when highly diluted, inhibited growth of P. notatum. The synthetic vit. K was most active. [beta]-methylnaphthalene had no effect.
