Abstract
As an aid to understanding the application of the concept of multi-purpose cadastres in Australia, a true fully-operational multi-purpose cadastre has been described—the cadastre chosen is that of the Canton de Vaud in Switzerland. In particular the relationship between title registration, cadastral surveying and large scale mapping is discussed. Those aspects of the cadastral system which have relevance to the Australian situation are highlighled and assessed. Keywords
