Abstract
Anaerobic acid formation from sucrose by S. mutans NCTC 10449, Lactobacillus casei LSB No. 132 and A. viscosus Ny 1 No. 30 was inhibited by acesulfame K, cyclamate, and saccharin but not by aspartame. When inhibitory sweeteners were combined, strong synergism of their effect was observed. Inhibitory effects of such a sweetener mix were further enhanced by fluoride or xylitol or both. Effective doses were 10–20 mM of acesulfame K and of cyclamate, a few millimoles/l of saccharin, 50 μM of F-, and 10 mM of xylitol as examples. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
