Abstract
Fruits of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill) picked at full vine-ripened stage had significantly thicker fruit walls than those harvested at the mature-green stage. No increase in pericarp thickness occurs after fruit detachment from the vine. Fruit wall thickness showed no significant response to accelerated ripening with (2-chloroethyl)phosphonic acid (ethephon). Keywords
