Mycorhizas of Filbert and Walnut Trees in Oregon Orchards

Abstract
Ectrophic mycorhiza on filberts (Corylus avellana) and endotrophic mycorhizas on walnuts (Juglans regia) are so generally found that few non-infected roots can be noted. They are found on nearly all soils on which filberts and walnuts are grown, regardless of soil type, degree of fertility or physical or chemical condition of the soil. With filberts the fungi may have been introduced from Europe though a similar form is indigenous to this country as are those affecting walnuts.
