Abstract
Silver halide emulsions internally sensitized with iridium show unusual resistance to either electron- or hole-trapping desensitization by spectral sensitizing dyes. The effects of environment on the surface-internal characteristics parallel earlier studies on core/shell emulsions internally sensitized with sulphur and gold. The photographic properties of emulsions internally sensitized with iridium are attributed to its strong electron-trapping ability.
