Abstract
The general solution of the equation delta R2/ delta gij=0 is found under the assumption that the metric has the generic form ds2= Sigma a=13e2 alpha (t)(dxa)2-e2 beta (t)dt2. Its relation to the special solution characterised by the constancy of R is examined.Keywords
