Abstract
Spinal cord injury may have a profound effect on the patient's sexuality. In order to maximize the patient's potential, concern and support from health care professionals is needed. This article reviews normal sexual function and changes occurring following spinal cord injury. The PLISSIT model is described and is used to describe nursing interventions designed to deal with the sexual concerns of spinal cord-injured patients. Keywords
