Abstract
A new ultrasonic cell for measurements of ultrsaonic velocity and attenuation in a metal under both conditions of melting and solidifying processes has been designed. Ultrasonic pulse transmission method has been used in the present work. As an example, by using a new ultrasonic cell, sound velocity of Wood's alloy is measured at and around the melting temperature, and the results for the change of sound velocity in the vicinity of the melting point are reported and discussed. Keywords
