Abstract
The authors calculate the widths of 2p and 3d pi -atomic states in the nuclei 12C, 16O, 32S, 40Ar, 40-48Ca, 46-50Ti and 52Cr assuming the 'two-nucleon' mechanism to be the doorway process for nuclear pion absorption. The results are in good agreement with experiment. Keywords
