Influence of nuclear structure on widths of π-atomic terms

Abstract

The authors calculate the widths of 2p and 3d pi -atomic states in the nuclei ¹²C, ¹⁶O, ³²S, ⁴⁰Ar, ^40-48Ca, ^46-50Ti and ⁵²Cr assuming the 'two-nucleon' mechanism to be the doorway process for nuclear pion absorption. The results are in good agreement with experiment.
