Abstract
The method of differential thermal analysis (d.t.a.), has been applied to an exploratory investigation of plant material. D.t.a. curves are shown for the leaves of higher plants, pollen, lower plants including ferns, mosses, algae, fungi, lichens, and yeasts, and a range of reference organic chemical compounds. Tentative interpretations of the curves are made in terms of peak patterns and botanical classifications. Comparisons are also made of the energy released as indicated by the area under the d.t.a. curve and the calorific value by a direct method. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
