Abstract
Different approaches may often be used to achieve the same adaptive control objective. In this paper we discuss connections between the choice of error equation and the robustness of the adaptive system. We study a single gain example using averaging methods and show that there are significant differences in the robustness properties of schemes obtained with various approaches. Keywords
