Abstract
The oxidation of alkanes by dimethyldioxirane is dramatically affected by the presence of molecular oxygen and radical inhibitors, supporting the hypothesis of a free-radical mechanism for these extraordinarily selective reactions; the factors affecting the free-radical selectivity are suggested.Keywords
