Cationic platinum(II) complexes with acetylenes

Abstract
A new series of cationic platinum(II) acetylene complexes of the general formula [PtacenX]n+Y−n (with n = 1, 2), where X = Cl, Br, I, Y = Cl−, Br−, PtCl42−, PtBr42−, [Formula: see text], and en = ethylenediamine, have been prepared. The infrared spectra of the complexes are discussed in relation to their structures and chemical properties. The effect of the anions on the infrared vibrations of the glycol and the ethylenediamine is also discussed.
