Abstract
In the extrusion of an amorphous, un-cross-linked polymer through a capillary, there is a critical stress at and beyond which the emerging stream becomes irregular in shape. This effect appears to originate in the approach to the capillary rather than within the capillary. Tearing or fracture of the molten polymer appears to occur in this region. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
