Abstract
If human beings, with the passage of time, would serenely accept the ravages of nature on their features, there would be no need of searching for methods to counteract this progressive deterioration. Understandably, humanity refuses to look placidly upon the unrelenting erosion of a youthful appearance and its replacement by a decrepit, unsightly, and atrophic skin. Youth also looks with horror upon the marring of its skin by the pits, craters, and ridges of acne scarring. Humanity is forced, by the unalterable progress of time, to release grudgingly and unwillingly its hold upon youth and to enter the declining processes of middle age. In desperation, people avidly search for some "miracle substance" to ingest or apply to the skin to secure a supposed and yearned-for rejuvenation.
