Abstract
The transmutation of the three similar () type elements K, Cl, P under alpha-particle bombardment has been studied by observing the energy distribution of emitted protons. These are found to occur in groups corresponding to discrete values of the nuclear energy changes which have been determined and tabulated. A general similarity between the behavior of the three elements is observed: They each give groups with energy changes differing by 1.5 Mev on the average, which fit in with the groups from the similar type elements F, Na, Al as found by May and Vaidyanathan. The values 33.9799 (±0.0015) and 37.9753 (±0.0016) for the masses of and are deduced.
