Abstract
During the past one hundred years the honey bee, Apis mellifera L., has been the object of a vast amount of research. The physiology and behavior of the honey bee are being investigated at the present time by various agencies interested in the animal as a food producer and pollinator. The anatomy, embryology, and morphology have already been the object of considerable study by entomologists.
