Abstract
The -state antiferromagnetic Potts model with competing next-nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic interactions is studied using mean-field theory and Monte Carlo simulations. The mean-field approximation leads to a rich phase diagram, and the Monte Carlo simulations for show that the distinct features of the mean-field solution are realized in three dimensions.
