Abstract
The problem of measuring inter-plant competition is discussed and a competition model for regular hexagonal arrays of plants is suggested, based on correlation between neighboring pairs of plants. A method of estimating the correlation coefficient is produced and transformations to normality for the estimated correlation coefficient are obtained for 3 small sample patterns. The necessity of the assumption of normality for the initial variate (individual plant yield) is considered. A numerical example from an experiment with cabbage shows the estimation of the correlation coefficient and the analysis of variance for such estimates. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
