Acid and Alkaline Secretion in Patients with Gastric Ulcer of the Lesser Curvature

Abstract
Gastric secretion studied in 120 patients hospitalized with ulcer of the lesser curvature of stomach was followed up by the report of acid/alkaline secretion in relation to the site of ulcer: 88 on the vertical part, 9 cases on incisura angularis and on the horizontal part, and 23 on the prepyloric region. Gastric juice obtained by a histamine augmented test showed that the higher the site of the ulcer, the lower is the acid/ alkaline secretion. There was no significant change referring to the electrolytes in gastric juice. The study of gastric secretion in 19 patients with double localization placed stress on the importance of gastric stasis in stimulation of the pylorus region.
