Abstract
The feeding response of Lymnaea stagnalis shows robust appetitive conditioning to a novel chemostim-ulus (amyl acetate), which is retained for more than 4 days. In scrru-isolated central nervous system (CNS)-hp preparations taken from conditioned snails, application of amyl acetate to lip tissue led to the onset of fictive feeding in 5/17 individuals, and excitation of an identified cerebral-buccal feeding intemeuron, CV1a. in a further 8. Control group snails showed no response to amyl acetate. Keywords
