Prolactin and Growth Hormone Levels in Serum from the Cavernous Sinus of Rhesus Monkeys

Abstract
Serum from the cavernous sinus (CS) of male and female rhesus monkeys was assayed for GH (radioimmunoassay) and prolactin (bioassay) levels. The titers of both hormones varied independently. GH levels varied over a much wider range than did those of prolactin. Comparison of the GH titers in CS and peripheral vein serum indicated a dilution factor of up to 130×. The significance of these findings is discussed.
