Persistence of 2,4-D in Plant Tissues

Abstract
Chinese tallow trees (Stillingia sebifera) growing in the vicinity of Beaumont, Texas, were sprayed with 2,4-D in 1948; of the 100 trees sprayed, 14 were dead in the spring of 1949, and all the others showed signs of 2,4-D injury at this time. Evidently the 2,4-D had persisted in the buds and other vegetative tissues from 1948 to 1949. China-berry trees (Melia azedarach) similarly treated in 1948 showed no symptoms in 1949.
