Abstract
Pancreatic secre-tin was prepared from the various portions of the gastrointestinal tract (buccal cavity to rectum) by washing the respective viscera with 0.4% HC1 and precipitating the active principle by saturation with NaCl. Secretin was found to be confined in distribution to the small intestine, the first fifth of intestine yielding approximately 1/2 the total, the second 5th 1/4, and the 3rd and 4th lengths of intestine yielding to-gether the remaining 1/4 of the total yield of secretin. The last fifth of small intestine and colon-rectum and all other body tissues examined were devoid of secretin. A method of direct injection of the pancreas by back tracking the preparation through the splenic artery was described. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
