Abstract
The effect of light intensity upon the oxygen consumption of the isolated outer segments of rods was studied by means of the Warburg apparatus at 25[degree]C. The outer segments were separated from dark adapted winter toad''s retina at 0[degree]C. In the addition of 10-2m 1-glutamate in a suspending medium, the inhibition caused by white light illumination was proportional to the logarithm of light intensity, but, in the absence of glutamate, the inhibition was not proportional to the logarithm of light intensity.
