Abstract
The shape of the coexistence curve in the vicinity of the critical consolute point has been determined by measuring the phase separation temperature of 34 different samples. The measurements indicate that the asymptotic behaviour of the coexistence curve is characterised by the critical exponent beta =0.344. The linewidth of scattered laser light has also been measured by intensity correlation techniques along the critical isochore. The data were fitted to the unmodified and modified Kawasaki equation to determine the critical exponent nu of the long-range correlation length. Keywords
