Serum Prolactin and TSH: Effects of Nursing and pyroGlu-His-ProNH2Administration in Postpartum Women*

Abstract
Nursing induced a marked increase (up to 10-fold) in serum prolactin, but it had no measurable effect on the concentration of TSH in the serum of 3 postpartum women. Administration of exogenous pyroGlu-His-ProNH2 (6 to 300 μg, iv) caused a rise in the serum concentrations of both prolactin and TSH, while doses of 1 and 2 μg elicited no significant change in either prolactin or TSH.
