Abstract
Tarweed (Madia glomerata Hook.), is a strong competitor of seeded grass seedlings. Twnety methods of seeding high-elevation tarweed-infested range-lands were tested over a 10-year period on a harsh site in south-eastern Idaho. Cultivating and drilling in the spring as snow left the area, usually early June, gave the best stands. Because of poor accessibility this method is seldom practicable. The most practicable method was spraying in the spring with 1.5 to 2 lb/acre of 2,4-D, drilling in the fall, and respraying with 1 lb/acre of 2,4-D the next spring. This method also gave excellent results when tested on 8 large-scale seedings. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
