Abstract
Prevention and treatment of dermatitis caused by incontinence is an extremely important part of skin care, but the question of whether the principles used by nurses in preventing and treating incontinence dermatitis are research based and from a sound body of knowledge or whether they are based on custom and practice needed asking. This article will explore the causes of incontinence dermatitis, and reveal the results of a survey that was undertaken into nurses' knowledge about the principles of skin care and the practices used.
