Abstract
Six ponies averaging 180 kg, placed in metabolism crates, were fed alternately with cereals in different physical forms in 4 diets (oat alone or barley, maize and wheat with wheat straw) for total digestibilities (40 g/kg PV0.75 per day or 2000 g/animal per day in 2 meals). The analytical composition of cereals was a little lower than usual. The composition of diets tried to equalize the cell wall constituents. Apparent digestibilities of diets showed no influence of the physical form and those of cereals showed the lower energy value of oat. Blood levels of lactic acid and glucose did not show a difference between cereals. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
