Abstract
Phase synchronization in lattices of coupled chaotic oscillators is studied. It is found that phase synchronization can be greatly improved by asymmetric biased coupling. The mechanism responsible for this effect is the transition from a localized wave to synchronized flow and nonlocal phase synchronization. Keywords
