Abstract
Despite remarkable advances in the understanding of and the development of therapeutic agents for its treatment, the prevalence, severity, and mortality from bronchial asthma is increasing. A greater awareness of the chronicity of the disease process with a greater appreciation specifically for the role of chronic inflammation in this process has important implications for therapy and the possible prevention of chronic symptomatic asthma. A current perspective of asthma and some possible therapeutic implications are presented. Keywords
