A Study of Rheumatoid Arthritis Latex Kits

Abstract
A comparative study of the latex rheumatoid arthritis reagents currently produced in the United States is presented. A wide range of quantitative results was observed and reported by titer. A Laboratory Division Provisional Standard for Rheumatoid Arthritis has been prepared at the Center for Disease Control and has been compared with the International Reference Preparation of Rheumatoid Arthritis Serum by both the authors’ laboratory and the State Serum Institute in Denmark. Results reported in units determined by simultaneous titration of the standard and unknown sera showed greater agreement between the various latex products than when titers alone were employed.
