Abstract
Strong oscillations in the Rutherford-backscattering yield of energetic ions channeling in the basal plane of a beryllium single crystal have been observed. The wavelength of the oscillation is in reasonable agreement with a particle trajectory calculation using an analytical continuum potential, including the effects of thermal lattice vibrations, and is in good agreement with expectations from Monte Carlo simulations by Barrett.
