Abstract
In laser cladding the wear and corrosion properties of metallic surfaces are modified by the addition of hardfacing alloys. The aim of the cladding process consists in obtaining a homogeneous surface layer with a strong metallurgical bond to the substrate and only a low degree of dilution. The process usually involves the delivery of fine grained alloy powders directly into the melt pool during the laser irradiation [1,2]. This method of laser cladding is widespread and very flexible but there are still some technological problems which have to be solved. Keywords
