Abstract
In connection with certain work on the articulated corallines collected from the Pacific Coast of N. Amer., it has been found necessary to extend the Weber-van Bosse system and to make even more clear the lines of demarcation between the different genera recognized. This has been accomplished by instituting certain additional combinations of characters, both macroscopic and microscopic, such as modes of branching, shapes of the segments, positions of the conceptacles, positions of the conceptacular pores and the varying microscopic structure in both the genicula and the intergenicula. A tentative outline is set forth, and the following are proposed: PACHYARTHRON (p.45), type P. cretaceum (Corallina cretacea P. et R.) (p.45); BOSSEA (p.46), type B. plumosa (p.46), Cali-fornia; CALLIARTHRON (p.46), type C. cheilosporioides (p.46), California Coast; JOCULATOR (p.47), type J. pinnatifolius (p.47), California Coast; CORNICULARIA (p.47), subg. of Corallina, type Corallina gracilis Lam.; DUTHIEA (p.48), type D. setchellii (p.48), near mouth of Grote River, S. Africa. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
