Abstract
Solution cultures were used in a greenhouse study. Analysis of leaf samples for 12 nutritionally important elements revealed a decrease in the concn. of N, P, K, and SO4 accompanied by a large increase in the Mg content with increasing increments of Mg in the nutrient solutions. Disease incidence in the inbred line Ohio 41 was significantly increased by increasing magnesium while that of Illinois Hy was not. Significant differences in disease susceptibility existed between the two inbred lines.
